The Department of Art Education has been very fortunate in its endowments, particularly for graduate work. In May 1993, two endowed funds were established by Lawrence Barnett and Isabel Bigley Barnett to support the Graduate Program in Arts Policy and Administration. The Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Fellowship Fund provides tuition, fees and an annual stipend for promising students in the graduate program. In addition, the Barnett Distinguished Visiting Professor Fund supports an annual visiting lecture series and biennial Arts and Public Policy Symposium created to facilitate in-depth inquiry and analysis of public and not-for-profit sector policies and practices affecting the support, accessibility, and quality of the arts and arts education. Barnett Fellows work with faculty members as research associates or at the OSU Urban Arts Space. They also assist in planning and organizing the biennial symposium. Barnett Fellows for 2009-2010 are: Yeun Kyung Choo, Rachel Smith, Da Hyun Lee, Ah Young Yoon, and Nicole Sterling. This year, the Department of Art Education also established the Barnett Dissertation Fellowship. The purpose of the Barnett Dissertation Fellowship is to assist advanced doctoral students specializing in Arts Policy & Administration to finish their dissertation and launch their professional careers. Insul Kim is the 2009 Barnett Dissertation Fellow.
